Hike SoCal

UPCOMING HIKE

WHEN: Saturday October 25, meeting at 8:30 am at the trailhead (see directions below).

ABOUT THE HIKE: We will be hiking the Sweetwater Trail from Steele Canyon Bridge. It is about three miles out and back with modest elevation gain. Dogs on leash are allowed. Of course you will want to get some photos on the 96-year-old Steele Canyon Bridge that is 460 feet long.

WHERE: From Eastlake Church, take the 125 north (that entails tolls) to the 94 East. As you continue on the 94 East the freeway will end and you will be on Campo Road (which is still 94 East). At the junction of Campo Road and Jamacha Road, turn right to continue on Campo Road/94 East (if you go straight, you will be on Jamacha Road which is Highway 54/S17). In 0.4 miles, turn right onto Singer Lane, and then immediately turn left to arrive at a small parking lot and the trailhead.

IMPORTANT GENERAL INFORMATION

Hiking in natural areas can present a variety of potential hazards, starting with uneven terrain, loose gravel, and obstacles on trails that can result in slips/trips/falls. Conditions on hikes can also potentially lead to dermatitis from poison oak, heat illness, snake bites, and insect stings or bites.

Always take appropriate precautions and come prepared for the hike. Wear solid footwear with good tread and clothing to fit the weather. Apply sunscreen as needed and bring plenty of water, a minimum of one quart. For cool weather, layer your clothing so you are warm enough but can take off outer layers if you get warm.
